A short guide for parents comparing schools: what to ask about learning, support, communication and costs.

Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions a family makes. Visiting schools and asking clear questions will help you compare them fairly.

Learning: Which curriculum does the school follow, and which subjects are taught in each grade? What is the language of instruction? How is progress assessed and reported to parents?

Support and wellbeing: How does the school help students who are new, who are learning English, or who need extra support? How does the school look after students' safety and wellbeing?

Communication: How often will you hear from teachers? Who should you contact with a question?

Practical matters: What are the fees, and what do they include? What are the key dates? Is transport or food available?

Write down the answers after each visit so that you can compare schools side by side. You are welcome to ask CIS Somalia any of these questions.
